GroAsk uses Chrome to open AI websites and auto-fill your questions. Chrome supports the automation needed for a seamless "type and send" experience. First-time setup requires enabling one permission in Chrome (Menu → View → Developer → Allow JavaScript from Apple Events).

The global hotkey does not require this permission. GroAsk does not collect, store, or upload any of your data. All operations happen locally.
No. GroAsk is a launcher that connects to AI services via their websites. You need your own accounts with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, etc. GroAsk makes it faster to access these services.
When you have text selected in any app (a paragraph, code snippet, error message, etc.), press the hotkey and GroAsk automatically captures that text and sends it to your chosen AI. This eliminates manual copy-paste.
GroAsk auto-updates to stay compatible with AI websites. When a website changes, we push an update and your app picks it up automatically — no manual app update needed.
If an update hasn't arrived yet, GroAsk falls back to clipboard mode (your query is copied so you can paste it manually).
GroAsk requires internet to connect to AI services. However, once activated, your Pro license works offline — no ongoing verification needed.
The Free version is fully functional (not time-limited) with 8 Web AIs. Try it as long as you like before deciding to upgrade.

Yes! The default hotkey is ⌥Space, but you can change it to ⌥G in Settings. If ⌥Space conflicts with another app (e.g. ChatGPT Desktop or Raycast), GroAsk will automatically fall back to ⌥G.
