    Hi guys,

Looks like Google are messing with us again.

On my meta description it says ‘156 characters are available, USE THIS SPACE’, when obviously as Google are now using mobile searches more and more, 156 characters is not really relevant now.

I’d say that even the 120 character minimum is being pushed, and this should be reduced to 110 characters, so that we can get the green light from Yoast.

    How about it?

    Hi @steveraven,

Google no longer uses a fixed length for the meta description, not even on mobile devices. You can check this screenshot (and here) , taken from my phone today, where you can see how great the differences in meta description length can be.

There is no exact number that will always fit. Having too short descriptions decrease your chances of having a longer snippet displayed. If you believe the meta description guidelines should be changed, please submit a feature request on GitHub and our teal will look into it.
