XMedia Recode is a free, Windows-based audio and video converter developed by Sebastian Dörfler. It lets you transcode media between a wide range of formats and containers through an intuitive interface with advanced controls when you need them. The app supports batch processing and offers numerous device presets, making it easy to prepare files for phones, tablets, game consoles, and streaming platforms.

Beyond straightforward conversion, XMedia Recode includes essential editing tools: trim and cut clips, crop or resize, adjust frame rate and aspect ratio, apply filters such as deinterlacing and color correction, and manage multiple audio tracks and subtitles. You can convert, pass through, or burn in subtitles, modify audio bitrate, sample rate, and channel layout, and edit metadata. It supports popular codecs and formats, including H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, MPEG-4, VP9, AAC, MP3, and AC-3, and can use hardware-accelerated encoding on compatible systems.

With a job queue, preview window, and customizable encoding profiles, XMedia Recode works well for both quick conversions and more complex workflows. It is freeware, multilingual, and designed to handle files and non–copy-protected discs in accordance with applicable laws.

I found your review of Xmedia Recode video converter very useful but there is one big almighty problem: the converter boasts a whole host of impressive tools to truly enhance video footage but the failing is the video viewing screen at 4 inches "square" is much too tiny to properly view what you are doing to the picture, ie Deblock; Denoise; Sharpness and Colour Correction. I do wish the maker would have had the sense to make the viewer enlarge on the PC screen, then it all would have been ideal. As it is one has to guess the subtle settings blindly, which is very difficult to do.
Also, the latest version, 3.1.8.8 does not have Colour Hue whereas older versions did. If you can get through to the German manufacturer, (many have tried, but he does not e-mail back), then please ask him to improve these points.
