The JDK now supports TLS 1.3 certificate compression with the
zlib compression algorithm as specified in RFC 8879. This feature
can reduce the size of certificate chains exchanged during TLS
handshakes. The brotli and zstd
compression algorithms are not supported.
TLS certificate compression is enabled by default. To disable
it, add the compress_certificate extension to the
jdk.tls.client.disableExtensions and
jdk.tls.server.disableExtensions system properties.
For example, the following Java command-line options disable TLS
certificate compression for both the client and the server:
-Djdk.tls.client.disableExtensions=compress_certificate -Djdk.tls.server.disableExtensions=compress_certificate
