5th Edition (2024), 30 Sections, 228 Chronological Tasks, 340,000 Words, 590 Pages

Michael Bazzell has helped hundreds of celebrities, billionaires, and everyday citizens disappear completely from public view. Many of his previous books about privacy were mostly REACTIVE and he focused on ways to hide information, clean up an online presence, and sanitize public records to avoid unwanted exposure. This textbook is PROACTIVE. It is the complete guide he would give to any new client in an extreme situation. It leaves nothing out and provides explicit details of every step he takes to make someone completely disappear, including legal documents and a chronological order of tasks. For many, this is the only manual needed to secure a new private life. Digital PDF available at the IntelTechniques website.

Michael Bazzell investigated computer crimes on behalf of the government for over 20 years. During the majority of that time, he was assigned to the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Task Force where he focused on various online investigations and open source intelligence (OSINT) collection. As an investigator and sworn federal officer through the U.S. Marshals Service, he was involved in numerous major criminal investigations including online child solicitation, child abduction, kidnapping, cold-case homicide, terrorist threats, and advanced computer intrusions. He has trained thousands of individuals in the use of his investigative techniques and privacy control strategies.

After leaving government work, he served as the technical advisor for the first season of the television hacker drama Mr. Robot. His books Open Source Intelligence Techniques and Extreme Privacy are used by several government agencies as training manuals for intelligence gathering and privacy hardening. He now hosts the weekly Privacy, Security, and OSINT Show, and assists individual clients in achieving ultimate privacy, both proactively and as a response to an undesired situation. Details about his company’s services can be found online at IntelTechniques.com.

    The Privacy Bible

This book is what I like to refer to as "The Privacy Bible" because it is an absolute required read for anyone who is at all concerned about the amount of data being collected on us every minute of the day. If you are at all curious about what you can do to take more control over your data and your digital footprint, you need to pick up this book.

The depth of the information and techniques are vast and nearly all you would need to know to start locking down your data. Even if you don't implement all of the safeguards -- and believe me, even the most hardcore will not go all the way -- you should still read the entire book cover to cover.

A few tips for those just getting started with privacy: First, make sure you buy the most recent edition of the book because the privacy landscape is constantly changing, and what worked yesterday may require a workaround today. Secondly, if you're going to implement the techniques introduced by the book, take it slow, and know that staying private can take a lot of effort and discipline to keep up with, but in my opinion it is well worth the trouble.

Forgive me for being political here, but privacy is a human right, and this book is one of the most important tools in anyone's arsenal. Do not skip it.

    Amazing book on privacy

Look overall this an amazing and high quality book. When you read it you feel that the author has put a lotta effort into this. I can imagine how much he went through. There are things that I learned for the first time and a lot that I already know. Also, some stuff I disagree on but thats normal. One more thing, if privacy has a scale of 1 to 100 where 100 is extreme insane privacy and 1 no privacy at all. Then I would rate this like 65. Well 35% is missing because this is not like extreme privacy and off the grid thing. Its targeted for like celebrities, and just high profile clients, gov people etc. So all depends on your threat model. But I give it a 5 stars nevertheless. I would now want to grab his OSINT book because it looks like this author is writes interesting and valuable books.

Extreme privacy: Privacy for the paranoid, or practice for the productive.

A longtime fan of the authors works and ventures, I have always had a little bit more of a privacy and security minded approach when it comes to online as well a personal interactions. This book serves as a great reference guide and point of possible launch for many out there who already may practice a fair bit of range in privacy practices, but are looking to increase the depth of efficiency in practices. Or perhaps it is the other way around for many as well. I can see how it was made in the hopes to be understood by anyone who wants to understand. While also being quite educational with its amvery practical, real world walkthrough approachs. Taking you step by step at times for things like OS settings, terminal commands, browser settings and more. Eventually growing into a more all around lifestyle piece on what it means to be using fake identites that purposefully age online in order to better gain results for further tactics and methods. Giving great information on items like Postage and Identification Cards, business and assets function, trust funds, home and car purchases and even an ACD(advanced care directive) section for the event of your untimely, and hopefully private passing.
