FixGuard is a free, privacy-first extension for Chrome and Edge that blocks ads, trackers, cookie banners, and notification prompts, strips tracking parameters from links, and sends Global Privacy Control — all with simple per-site control and no accounts or subscriptions.

What it does
Blocks ads, scripts, and tracking domains at the network level using the Declarative Net Request API. Fast, efficient, and battery-friendly.
Hides ad containers, banners, and sponsored content with CSS selector-based filtering. Add your own selectors and choose whether blocked containers collapse completely or stay in the layout.
Follows a site's own reject or necessary-only controls to clear cookie banners and consent modals automatically, with a hide-and-unlock fallback that restores scrolling when a consent layer locks the page.
Blocks analytics and tracking scripts from Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity, comScore, and Bing telemetry.
Strips known tracking parameters — like utm_, gclid, and fbclid — from links before the page loads, so campaigns and cross-site clicks can't follow you through the address bar.
Sends the standardized GPC opt-out signal on every request, telling sites not to sell or share your personal data — a preference recognized by a growing number of privacy laws.
Blocks annoying site notification permission requests before they interrupt you. No more pop-ups asking to send you alerts.
Optionally suppresses Google One Tap and automatic sign-in prompts until you start the sign-in yourself, so identity pop-ups don't hijack the page.
Blocks pre-roll video ads by intercepting the Google IMA SDK on supported sites. It is currently marked beta and supports extra custom video ad domains from settings.
Pause blocking on the current site from the popup, then manage exact hostnames or wildcard patterns from settings when you need broader allowlisting.
Filter lists sync silently in the background from a secure API, and the settings page shows the last sync time with a manual refresh button when you want to update immediately.
The popup shows how many ads were removed on the current page, while settings give you separate toggles for tracking, notifications, cookie banners, link cleaning, privacy signals, video ads, and custom rule lists.

No, and it's not supposed to either. FixGuard is designed to be as lightweight as possible. It should block most ads, cookies, tracking events, annoying popup scripts, etc., but it's not made to cover all cases.
Our codebase is 57 KB, including images and styles, as of 11 April 2026, compared to competitors that are 80+ megabytes.
FixGuard has many different tools and ways for you to block the elements that are on the websites you most frequently visit. You can read more about that here.
