The AI ecosystem has moved fast. Reasoning, planning, generating all work. What does not work reliably is the last critical step for many businesses: reaching live websites, reading current information, completing a booking, extracting a price, submitting a form, or confirming an order on a site that has no API and no plan to build one.
The consumer web is vast, dynamic, and fragmented. A small portion of it exposes clean partner APIs or MCP interfaces. The rest — most of it — was designed for a human with a browser. AI systems trying to act on that portion either cannot reach it at all, or reach it in ways that are slow, expensive, and brittle: re-reasoning over every page on every call, at inference cost, breaking every time a site updates its layout.

The standard approaches to web automation each have a ceiling.
Hand-written as Playwright, Puppeteer, or custom crawlers — they work for small, stable targets. But they do not scale, and they break every time a site updates. Maintaining them at production volume requires a team, a backlog, and permanent firefighting.
Sending an LLM to navigate each page on every request. At low volume they are usable. At production scale, the inference cost per session and the non-determinism of model output make them unsuitable for business-critical workloads.
The result is web automation that can be treated as infrastructure: reliable enough to depend on, cheap enough to run at scale, maintainable without constant engineering attention.
