I would message the user and praise them on their answers, but caution their ongoing comments as non-constructive and how they tend to be argumentative in nature. Perhaps suggesting they only give answers and leave comments for other users.

2. How would you handle a situation where another mod closed/deleted/etc. a question that you feel shouldn’t have been?

Attempt to communicate with the other moderator and get a better understanding of their view on the question.

Filter questions and answers as relevant to the SE domain. As a moderator on other forums, this task takes up most of my admin time.

It is a badge of honor that shows I am respected to my peers and that I have the integrity to hold such a position in the community.

Answering questions is great, but having someone help ensure quality over quantity is needed in any community.

I would first review the users history to see if there are any patterns. Then I would message the user directly, focusing on the value they bring to the ecosystem and try to figure out what triggers the arguments, as it may not be the poster themselves but rather the flagger or responder

I would message the other mod and ask them why they removed the question. If I still feel it should be reopened after the discussion I would explain why and it is still unresolved after that message a third mod to weigh in on the matter

Moderators keep things on topic, make sure others are aware of the guidelines, and point out infractions to these guidelines. Moderators should also nurture newcomers and encourage contributors, both new and established, to help each other grow the ecosystem and user base. Moderators should also ask a lot of questions and have strong technical experience in and around the subject matter

I didn't know that was the case but I would be pretty stoked that the community trusts me enough to do a good job and would find it very motivating

I'm on this site daily and feel that I can contribute a lot more than just asking and answering questions

Firstly I would investigate whether the majority of the flags are justified and what is their common cause. If the same user produces valuable content but easily engages in arguments I would raise it up privately with them and advise them to exercise more control. I'd also remove pure inflammatory comments when justifiable.

I would raise it privately with the mod and ask for their rationale, as they could have a valid reason that I had overlooked. If we cannot reach an agreement I would raise it with the other mods, so that we can reach a consensus on that particular kind of case going forward.

Moderators in Stack Exchange should ideally be on stand-by to address exceptional issues which the community cannot deal with by itself, such as investigating flagged posts, comments, etc. When action is required, communicate clearly the reasons so that the users understand them and hopefully avoid repeating them.
Aside from that, moderators should contribute more actively to the meta activities of the site.

I haven't given this much thought, but I don't think I will feel any differently about it.

In practice I can contribute to the community sooner, especially on a site that is still relatively low in activity and where no single user has yet achieved that level of reputation.

I would contact the user and, while being careful to thank them for their work, warn them that their comments are causing more harm than good. I would ask them to refrain from such actions and instead reach out to the moderators if they feel there is an issue with a question

I would find a way to contact the moderator, either through stack exchange tooling, or through social / tezos developer channels. I'd ask to discuss the question and review the stack exchange close options, to see if it really fit the criteria. Tezos is complex to navigate, and lots of developers struggle with areas. The question may be better off remaining open if it offers some benefit to the community. As we attempt to grow the community/users we should make sure removing content is only done when absolutely necessary

3. In your opinion, what do moderators do?

Remove spam/duplication. Help improve the quality of questions. Warn users of inappropriate behaviour. Block/ban users if necessary. Continue to support the community answering questions whenever possible. Bring difficult to answer questions/high profile questions, to the attention of senior engineers in the developer community

I would feel proud that members of the community have trusted me enough to have everything I do and say, both past and future, highlighted to a wider audience

I check the Tezos stackexchange everyday while working, but have limited ability to do anything beyond answer or comment. Having greater access to moderator controls will make me much more effective in ensuring quality content on the site
