Add links to text

A link, also known as a hyperlink, is a word or group of words you can click to go to another page or website. You can add links to images, buttons, and menus. This guide shows you how to create text links on your site.

Text blocks (like Paragraph and Heading blocks), Image blocks, and Buttons blocks have a link option in the toolbar. Follow these steps to turn text into a link:

  1. Highlight the text you want to link.
  2. Click the link icon in the toolbar that appears:

  1. In the text box that appears, you can:
    • Search for content on your site (only published content will appear.)
    • Type or paste a URL (to your site or any external website).
    • Create an anchor link to content on the same page.
  2. Click the Submit icon to save your changes.
  3. Click Save at the top right of the editor to save your changes.

Use a shortcut

Copy and Paste: Highlight text, then paste a copied URL directly onto it to automatically create a link.

Type [[: Type [[ anywhere in your content to see a list of your published posts and pages. Click one to create a link using its title as the linked text.

To change a link’s text or destination:

  1. Click the linked text.
  2. Select the pencil icon that appears.
  3. Edit the Text or the URL fields.
  4. Click the Save button in the link settings.

Setting a link to open in a new tab ensures visitors don’t lose their place on your site.

  1. Click the linked text.
  2. Select the pencil icon.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Check the box next to Open in new tab.
  5. Click the Save button in the link settings.

Mark a link as “nofollow” to tell search engines to ignore it. This is useful for advertisements, affiliate links, or when linking to sites you’re unsure about.

  1. Click the linked text.
  2. Select the pencil icon.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Check the box next to Mark as nofollow.
  5. Click the Save button in the link settings.

This adds a rel="nofollow" HTML parameter to your link.

The color of your links are determined by your theme or global styles. You can change default link colors through Styles in appearance, or change the color of a single link by following these steps:

  1. Click the linked text.
  2. In the block settings sidebar, look for the Color option.
    • In some blocks, it may be located under the Styles icon. It looks like a black and white circle.
  3. If you don’t see the Link color option, click the () in Colors, and check the box next to Link.
  4. Change the link’s default and hover colors.
  5. Click the Save button at the top-right of your editor to save your changes.

Remove a link from text or media by following these steps:

  1. Click the linked text.
  2. Click the Remove link icon.
