Let us close the week by reflecting on what preparation can make possible. This week, we saw that transformation rarely begins with a single skill. It can begin with a shift in thought. Taofiq Oukpedjo reminded us that identity, thoughts, and actions are connected—and that changing how we see ourselves can change how we move through the world. Innocent showed us what historically grounded financial education can become when learning moves beyond the individual: a small farming effort, financial mentorship, and a desire to reduce poverty in his community. Kaddijatou E. Kanyi showed us another shift: from thinking about entrepreneurship primarily through profit to asking how business can serve people. Through CGBD, emerging Black researchers are entering a space designed to deepen their thinking, strengthen their leadership, and help them turn research into solutions. And Esi Kagale Agyeman Gillo challenged us to reconsider financial education itself: perhaps the missing piece is not simply more information, but more context. Together, these stories tell one larger story: Historical awareness can change thought. Changed thought can change action. Changed action can build wealth, leadership, institutions, and legacy. That is why DIFFvelopment prepares young Black visionaries before pressure, not only after crisis. As we close the week, ask yourself: What becomes possible when people understand not only what to do next—but why their choices matter?
