Manila Support Home Page
Welcome to the Manila Support website. You can use this site to get help with your Manila installation from UserLand Customer Support, report bugs, and track your past issues and resolutions.
This site is also a jumping-off point for user and developer documentation, and public discussion areas. It links to related sites that help Manila users and administrators get the information they need and to stay up to date.
How do I report a bug or ask for support?
The best way to get support is to use the Problem Report page on this site. These posts go directly to UserLand's customer support people, and will be responded to promptly, in the order they are received.
To report an issue, you'll need your current Manila serial number. If you don't know your serial number, read the instructions on this page for obtaining it.
If you suspect a security problem in Manila or Frontier, send email to security@userland.com. We take security very seriously, and will repspond to suspected security-related issues immediately.
Important: Do not post notices of suspected security issues on public forums.
Documentation
All the documentation for Manila is public, and available via the directory. Also be sure to check out the Frontier search page, it covers all the Frontier documentation, discussion groups and mailing lists.
The Frontier and Manila User's Guide contains documentation on administering Manila websites and the server.
Public forums and references
The Manila Discussion Group is an active public forum of Manila users and UserLand staff, where you can ask for help with Manila.
If you're a less experienced Manila user, you may also want to read through the materials on the Manila Newbies website, and/or ask for help on its discussion group.
Many advanced users also follow the Frontier Discussion Group. (See Developer Resources below.) If you have questions about server administration, that's a good place to ask them.
Major software versions
One or two times a year we release new versions of the complete Manila package.
You can always get a fresh copy of the latest version of Manila from the download page. When we release a new version, we also release a package that upgrades an existing installation of Manila to the new version.
Interim features and fixes
In between full releases of Manila, we release updates to the various object databases. These updates are available via the Admin website, or the Update command in the application's Main menu.
For current list of updates, see the Manila Updates page.
Developer resources
Most of the developer documentation is available on the Frontier website.
The Manila-Dev mail list is for developers who are interested in participating in the ongoing development of Manila. We occasionally release beta software through this mail list, in order to solicit feedback before new features are added to the product. The list is also a good place to ask questions if you're interested in customizing Manila, or to announce your own extensions and additions to Manila.
The Frontier Discussion Group is a forum for developers who create their own software in Frontier. If you have questions about development in or around Frontier, it's a great place to ask for help. Many of the members of this group are Manila developers, but the group also includes people who build other software in Frontier.
The Frontier-Users mail list is read by most of the same people on the Frontier Discussion Group. Which one you prefer to use is up to you.
Frontier's built-in scripting language is called UserTalk. DocServer is a UserTalk reference website, which describes many of Frontier's built-in verbs.
News pages
We announce new versions on the Product News website. This page also links to all major developments in the Frontier/Manila community.
