Building trust through reliable solutions
One integrator for the whole scope: access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, Audio Visual (AV), public address (PA) and paging, gates, turnstiles, and structured cabling. Business and government, across Texas.
A family business, built for the field
AK Technologies began in 1992 as AK Telecom, founded by Alice Velez and Keith Sturdivant. In 2015 their son Matt Sturdivant relaunched the company to focus on security integration and low-voltage work.
Whether you manage construction sites, corporate offices, or government facilities, we combine decades of hands-on experience with a practical approach: straightforward communication, consistent results, and a commitment to getting it right the first time.

Common questions
What is a security system integrator?
A security system integrator designs, installs, connects, and services the systems that protect a building, such as access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, so they work together as one system instead of separate products from separate vendors. AK Technologies is an Austin integrator that also installs AV, paging, gates, turnstiles, and structured cabling.
How do I check a commercial security company in Austin?
Start with the license: ask for the company's Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security License number and confirm it with DPS. AK Technologies operates under license B10540201 and has been in Austin since 1992. Then ask for work at similar sites, whether the company services what it installs, and which manufacturers it is authorized to install. If you are a public entity, ask whether it holds a cooperative purchasing contract; ours is Texas DIR contract DIR-CPO-6165.
