Lakesha Whaley is an author, writer, entrepreneur, and inspirational storyteller whose mission is to share powerful messages that encourage, inspire, and uplift people around the world. Through her writing, social media content, podcast, and community work, she reminds people that even during difficult seasons, there is always hope, purpose, and the possibility of a new beginning. Lakesha is a mother of four who lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She received her high school diploma in 2004 and graduated from LT International Beauty School in 2012. In 2018, she began working with children with special needs in the school system, continuing her passion for helping and encouraging others. Her journey as an author began with a desire to turn faith, life experiences, and encouragement into words that could reach others. She released Faith Brought Us Through Part 2 in 2019 and later expanded her creative career as a ghostwriter and author of Just a Girl with Big Dreams. In 2020, she became the owner of Unique Extravagant Hair. In 2022, Lakesha expanded her publishing portfolio with You Are Unique, Come Along and Write Your ABC's, Tracing Your 123's Can Be So Much Fun, and Don't Take My Schedule Personal: Overlooked to Overbooked. She also became a certified phlebotomist and launched a podcast available across major platforms. One of Lakesha's most meaningful books, Faith Brought Us Through, was inspired by her personal experience navigating her youngest son's illness. Through her family's challenges, she leaned on her faith in God and discovered the strength to keep moving forward. The book encourages readers to develop bold faith, maintain hope, and believe that difficult circumstances do not have to determine the outcome of their lives. Her latest work, TRAUMA: The Things We Carry in Silence, explores the hidden weight of painful experiences and the impact that unresolved trauma can have on our lives. Through this self-help book, Lakesha encourages readers to acknowledge what they have carried in silence, begin their healing journey, rebuild their self-worth, and recognize that their past does not have to define their future. Lakesha's work extends beyond her books. She uses her voice through social media content, podcasting, and local empowerment and community gatherings in Philadelphia, including Out With the Old, In With the New. Through these platforms and events, she creates opportunities to encourage people, share positive messages, connect with her community, and inspire others to embrace new beginnings. With every book, post, conversation, and community gathering, Lakesha strives to leave people with a message of hope: Your circumstances may be part of your story, but they do not have to define your future. When she is not writing or encouraging others, Lakesha enjoys spending time with her family, doing hair, event planning, fashion, and exploring new creative opportunities.
