UNC men's golf welcomes transfers from Valparaiso and Washington State to the roster
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado men's golf rounded out its 2022-23 roster with a pair of transfers in Garrett Willis and Yuze Zhang. The duo comes to Greeley from Valparaiso and Washington State, respectively.
"I am glad to finalize the class of 2022," Director of Golf Clayton Sikorski said "We added four very talented players to a mature and experienced roster. The season can't come fast enough"
Willis joins the Bears as a graduate student from Valpo. He finished his career with Valparaiso's third-best scoring average of 74.62. Twice he won individual titles. The first at the 2019 Zach Johnson Invitational shooting a 2-over, 215 at the 75-player event. His second individual medalist came at the 2020 Lewis Flyer Intercollegiate with a 1-under, 215. Willis earned Missouri Valley Scholar-Athlete honors in 2019-20 and 2020-21. He was on the first team in 2019-20 and an honorable mention in 2020-21.

"We are very excited to add Garrett to the 2022 class. Garrett will be a steady force for us this year, bringing confidence and maturity to our lineup. He has four years of playing experience at a very solid program which will make him a leader within our program this year."
Zhang comes to Greeley from the Palouse where he redshirted last season at Washington State. He was ranked in the top 100 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard before college. Zhang won three junior tournaments in the 2019 AJGA Senior Showcase, the 2020 Florida Golf Associations Summer Major and the 2021 AJGA Senior Showcase. While he didn't win the event, one of his biggest accomplishments is taking second place at the 2021 Western Junior Championships. One of the top junior tournaments in the world.

"Adding Yuze to our class of 2022 is a great way to wrap things up on a strong incoming group. Yuze has all the physical talent you need to be successful at this level. Once he settles into UNC he will be a big asset for us for the next four years."
The new Bears will join a team that includes returning first team All-Big Sky golfer Jack Castiglia. UNC tees off the 2022-23 season on September 9 for the three-day Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.
