Five years ago, Aug 1, 2017 to be exact, Shyjal R. and Aslam Abbas started a venture. Fast forward today, that startup is a 6 member team with 6 #SaaS products in the market. This is the cut short story of how things happened at Micro.company [Early days of 2017] A friend of Shyjal, who is running a travel website mentions to him a problem. His website is getting a lot of clicks on Google. However, only a few of them are converting to leads. "Is there a smart solution?", asked the friend. While working in a #startup in Dubai, Shyjal was able to cook up an interactive chatbot interface for the travel website. The chatbot did wonders. Conversions skyrocketed, and this gave Shyjal an idea. If his friend needs a chatbot, so do millions of other websites. He took a break from his company, partnered up with Aslam, his college mate, who had just left the job at RedHat and started working on a chatbot platform. A platform, where anyone can make a chatbot without coding, called "Collect.chat" was born. On 1st August, 2017, five years ago, an MVP was launched on ProductHunt. After 1000s of emails, customer sitdowns and polishing the product, Collect.chat got its first paid customer during Christmas that year. [2017-2020] The next three years was all about Collect.chat. It was nurtured like a baby. Shyjal and Aslam started to understand the market better. Customer delight was given the highest priority. Happier customers started referring other customers and #growth graphs were going up. They said no to investors. Collect.chat remains a 100% #bootstrapped entity. They said no to feature requests that would tamper the core product. They said no to unnecessary ad spending. [Early 2021] Collect.chat matured like a fine wine. The team needed to work on solving new problems. And the new projects needed a home. The new home was called Micro.company. Micro.company defines themselves as “A company solving niche market problems, run by a small team with minimal resources, narrow focus and no outside funding.” [2021 - present day] New projects started to roll out frequently from Micro.company team. Some of them include. WhatsForm.com - "Create WhatsApp forms for your business" Locatestore.com - "Add store locations on a map" Store.link - "Easiest e-commerce store builder" And more products are to follow.
