A backdrop behind
the app you show.
A color, a gradient, a soft mesh or a picture, even your own wallpaper blurred, fills the screen behind the window in front. Viewers see your work and nothing else.
Install it and forget it. The moment you share or record your screen, Levers hides your desktop, Dock, other apps and menu bar clutter. When you stop, everything comes back.
$5 $29 once · macOS 15 or later · 14-day refund
01How it works
No button to remember before a call. Levers notices when your screen is shared or recorded, and gets there first.
Download it, drag it to Applications and open it. It sits in your menu bar from then on.
The moment a call or a recorder starts, your desktop, Dock, other apps and menu bar clutter are gone.
Each thing returns exactly as it was, even after a crash. Prefer to start it yourself? One click.
02Works everywhere
No setup and no plugins. Whatever app shares or records your screen, Levers notices, and the app you’re showing stays put. Meet and Teams in a browser, OBS and Loom too.
03Recording Mode
When a call, a recorder or any other app starts capturing your screen, Recording Mode hides what nobody needs to see. When it stops, each thing goes back exactly the way it was.
Pick the things Recording Mode changes in Settings. Each one is written down before it changes and undone in reverse when you stop. Anything you changed back yourself stays as you left it.
A small journal on your Mac holds every change. If Levers quits or the Mac restarts mid-recording, everything is put back the next time Levers opens.
Screen Studio, Zoom or Loom stay on screen, and so does the app you were in.
Do Not Disturb on, alert sounds off, the Mac kept awake, until you stop.
Ways it starts
A color, a gradient, a soft mesh or a picture, even your own wallpaper blurred, fills the screen behind the window in front. Viewers see your work and nothing else.
Sort your menu bar icons onto three shelves. The hidden ones come back on a click or a hover; Recording Mode tucks them all away.
A long build, a migration, a coding agent working through a task: turn on Keep Awake, pick how long, and walk away. The Mac won’t sleep until it’s done.
Five minutes to four hours, until midnight or tomorrow morning, or until you turn it off. Two hours to start with.
The job ran long? +15m, +1h or +4h from the dropdown, or the menu bar’s timer.
Turn Keep Awake off, or let the timer run out, and the Mac sleeps again.
04Switches
Sixteen things you change on your Mac every day, in one dropdown, without a trip to System Settings.
Clears the files, folders and widgets off your desktop.
Puts a color, gradient or picture behind the app in front.
Hides every app but the one you’re showing, and brings back only the ones it hid.
Tucks the Dock away until you move the pointer to it.
Hides the icons you choose, or the whole bar.
Switches the whole Mac between light and dark.
Warmer colors on the screen.
Matches the screen to the light around you.
Starts the screen saver now.
Silences notifications with Focus.
Stops the screen and the Mac from going to sleep.
Connects your headphones and shows their battery.
Turns the alert sounds down to nothing.
Mutes the microphone every app hears.
Holds every key back while you wipe it clean.
Dims the screen except a soft circle around the pointer, so viewers follow it.
Any switch can turn itself off after a while, or tomorrow morning.
Give any switch keys of its own, from any app, and a step in Shortcuts.
Pick the few the dropdown shows. The rest wait under Show all.
05Who it’s for
Tutorials, demos, calls and classes. If other people see your Mac, Levers is for you.
Tutorials, courses and walkthroughs with nothing to crop or blur afterwards.
The app in front, a backdrop behind it, and no chat window in the corner.
Share your screen on Zoom, Meet or Teams without a message sliding in.
A class or a stream from your Mac, with your desktop out of sight.
Walk a customer through their account with nobody else’s on screen.
A clean frame for the shot, then everything back where it was.

Using Levers
Whatever you pick in Settings › Recording Mode: it can hide desktop icons, other apps, the Dock and your menu bar icons, put a backdrop behind the app in front, turn on Do Not Disturb, keep the Mac awake, mute alert sounds, switch Dark Mode, Night Shift or True Tone, and set the screen to a resolution made for recording.
Yes. Levers writes down how each thing was before it changes it, and undoes the changes in reverse when you stop. Only what it changed is touched: anything you changed back yourself in the meantime stays as you left it. If Levers quits or the Mac restarts while Recording Mode is on, the next launch puts everything back.
Yes. When a call, a recorder or any other app starts capturing your screen, such as Zoom, Meet, Teams, Screen Studio or QuickTime, Recording Mode starts, and when the capture ends, everything goes back. A screenshot doesn’t start it. Started by hand, it stays on until you stop it. You can turn this off in Settings › Recording Mode.
Click Start in the dropdown, ⌥-click the Levers icon in the menu bar, press ⌃⌥⌘R in any app, or ask Siri to “Start Recording Mode in Levers”. Recording Mode and every switch are also actions in the Shortcuts app.
Yes. In Settings › Switches you put switches on three shelves: always shown, under Show all, and hidden. Drag a switch from one to another.
Your Mac and your data
macOS 15 Sequoia or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Only the ones a switch needs, and only when you first use it: Accessibility to hide chosen menu bar icons and to lock the keyboard, permission to control System Events for the Dock and Dark Mode, and Bluetooth for AirPods. Do Not Disturb works through two shortcuts you add once, because macOS has no other way for an app to set Focus.
