What is a high school diploma?

A high school diploma is an official document awarded to students who have successfully completed the required coursework and graduation requirements set by their state or school district.

Is it too late for me to earn my high school diploma?

Absolutely not! There’s no age limit to education. Adults of all ages—whether in their 20s, 40s, or 60s—go back to finish high school every year through adult education programs.

Why is a high school diploma important?

It’s often the minimum education requirement for employment, higher education, and military service. It also demonstrates foundational academic and life skills.

How long does it take to finish high school as an adult?

It depends on how many credits you already have.

Can I transfer credits from when I was in high school?

Yes! Most programs will evaluate your old transcripts and apply any credits you already earned so you don’t have to start over.

I’m nervous about school because I didn’t do well before. What if I fail again?

Adult programs use different teaching styles than traditional schools. They’re focused on real-life success, hands-on learning, and encouragement — not judgment. You’ll have teachers and life coaches who specialize in helping adults who’ve been out of school for years.

Will I receive an actual diploma?

Yes! Adult programs issue the same type of official diploma as traditional schools. You’ll also receive transcripts for college or job applications.

What subjects do I have to take?

Most programs include: -English or Language Arts -Math (Algebra, Geometry, etc.) -Science (Biology, Earth Science, or Physical Science) -Social Studies (U.S. History, Government, Economics) -Electives like health, computer literacy, or career readiness, etc.

Can I continue to college after finishing?

Yes! You can attend community college, trade school, or even university programs. Many adult high school programs offer transition counseling to help you apply.
