What We've Accomplished
Our Impact
From the Capitol floor to communities across New York State.
$30,000,000
Secured in the State Budget
For the past two years, we've successfully advocated for $30 million in the state budget to support programs that uplift underserved communities across New York State.
2025
Officially Recognized by the NYS Assembly
In 2025, the New York State Assembly officially recognized the New York State Black Legislative Task Force, marking an important milestone in our continued work to advance the priorities of Black communities across New York State.
Nonprofit Advocacy Day
We host an annual Nonprofit Advocacy Day, alongside our fiscal conduits, to bring together organizations and community leaders from across the state to advocate directly for critical funding.
Statewide Listening Tour
We traveled across New York State to hear directly from communities about how the $30M should be used — ensuring the money goes where it's needed most.
"We are Black legislators united by one purpose — to ensure Black communities across New York State have the resources, representation, and power they deserve."
Our Story
Founded in 2022 in the wake of the mass shooting at Tops Supermarket in Buffalo, the NYS Black Legislative Task Force was born from grief and transformed into action.
