What does the new ORA system mean for federal employees filing for Disability Retirement? The Online Retirement Application – ORA for short – is new for everyone, applicants and federal agencies alike. It’s so new that some agencies haven’t even started using it yet. We’re hearing from agencies that have switched to digital that it’s taking longer for applications to be built correctly and loaded into the portal. And because of all the process changes, it’s taking longer for all applications to reach the OPM – both digital and paper.

Can being written up at work because of your medical condition cost you your job? There’s a new rule that lets agencies remove employees faster for conduct issues. It’s called the Suitability & Fitness Rule. If you’ve experienced this and wondering if this is the end for you, don’t panic. 📌 https://lnkd.in/en9xnaat If what's happening at work is connected to a medical condition, like anxiety, depression, PTSD, or chronic pain, anything that's affecting your focus, your mood, or your behavior, this could actually be the start of something better, not the end of your career. It's called Disability Retirement. It's not a punishment and it's not admitting defeat. It's a benefit built for exactly this situation: when your health is making it hard to do your job the way you used to. On Disability Retirement, you can step away and still get paid monthly, keep your health and life insurance, and even work in the private sector while you keep building years toward your pension. If this sounds like your situation, please don't wait until it feels like an emergency. Our team is ready to help you decide which option is the best fit for you.
