Fun fact: when building Bitcoin Core’s bitcoind on modern systems, the x86_64 build compiles 10 more source files than the arm64 build.

2009: Satoshi builds Bitcoin v0.1 for Windows with MinGW, linked against msvcrt.dll, a C runtime from 1996. 2024: mingw-w64 v12 makes the modern UCRT its default. 2027: Bitcoin Core v33.0 will ship Windows binaries on UCRT.
