Smarter water management starts with better data 💧 SOMACYL S.A., the Public Infrastructure and Environment Company of Castilla y León, wanted to modernise the integrated water cycle and create a more efficient and sustainable approach to managing water resources. Working with Telefónica Tech, the traditional manual meter-reading model has been replaced with an automated, secure and continuous remote-reading system. The project includes the deployment of 175,000 smart meters with NB-IoT connectivity, centrally managed through the Kite platform. This means SOMACYL can now access accurate hourly consumption data, identify leaks and abnormal usage earlier, and move towards more predictive, data-driven management of its water infrastructure. The result? Greater efficiency, improved visibility and a more resilient service for citizens.
