In this lesson, we'll be covering a brief history of analytics engineering. This term was coined in the late 2010s and it's since grown a lot in popularity. So let's add our timeline down here and we're going to start in the year 1990. This was the year that data warehousing was introduced to the world. Now a data warehouse is a central place for analytics ready data. It's a place where data analysts, BI developers, and data scientists can access data to do their respective analysis. So from the 90s through the 2000s, I would call this the traditional tools phase. This was before analytics engineers came into the picture, and most of the data warehousing work was done by data engineers. They were writing custom scripts to load raw data from external sources into a company's data warehouse. Now fast forward a few decades. In the early 2010s, this is where cloud data warehousing comes into the picture. BigQuery, Redshift, and Snowflake, they all get introduced. And I would call this…
