How do I get started?
Register for a free account and follow our quick-start guide to start building.
How does YouVersion Platform define commercial use?
Non-commercial use is defined by the end-user experience. Specifically, applications integrating Platform Services must:
- Be free to the end user (no subscriptions, purchases, or upgrades).
- Not place Scripture or Scripture-dependent features behind paywalls.
- Not include advertising, sponsorships, or other monetization.
Additionally, Scripture may not be used in a way that enables revenue generation, directly or indirectly.
Can I use the Platform commercially?
No. YouVersion Platform is designed for nonprofit, ministry, and community use.
What is an SDK and an API?
SDKs offer pre-built UI components for faster development. APIs give you full control to build custom Scripture experiences.
What development languages and frameworks are supported?
YouVersion SDKs support Web, React Native, Swift, and Kotlin.
What kind of support is available?
Our team is here to help with documentation, questions, and general guidance. Just reach out through the Platform portal.
Will all Bible versions in the Bible App be available on Platform?
Our Bible Publishing Partners have generously given us their Bible text for use in our Family of Apps, and now they can take it one step further by allowing others to access their text through Platform. For this reason, Bible texts are not automatically accessible through Platform, the Publisher must opt in.
