Dock works great out of the box.

Must be powered with a 30W or greater charger, because the nvme won't work without it.

Charges steamdeck just fine.

Does not come with a power adapter.

Comes with detachable cable that goes to the steam deck and is 3ft.

Use the thermal pad for the ssd to assist with thermals.

Smaller than the screen of the steam deck so it's low profile.

Heat is between warm to the touch and hot but not uncomfortable hot when holding it.

Only heats up when doing heavy gaming or big transfers.

Overall this dock is great.

Wish it had 60Hz support for 4K but that's ok, this wasn't meant for 4K anyways!

This ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot measures 5.55" x 2.87" x 0.71" and weighs 1.76 pounds. This ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot is constructed of a striped aluminum alloy shell that not only makes this hub durable but makes it excellent for heat dissipation.

I initially chose to use this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot with my ASUS Zenbook Duo in part because the midnight blue of my ASUS Laptop and the color of this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot were a color match. This ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot also adds a full-sized SD Card slot as well as an NVMe slot that I use with a 2TB drive. My ASUS Zenbook Duo has two Thunderbolt 4 ports so I am able to use this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot and an external hard drive to expand on the paltry 512GB storage that shipped with my device.

What I liked most about this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot was:

- Build quality. This thing jostles about in my backpack during my commute and its no worse for wear after 2 months of usage.

- Never gets hot or even warm! I use this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot with a 2TB drive installed at all times then connect it to a 65-watt power supply, an external monitor and a couple of other peripherals. While it gets lukewarm, it's never gotten hot or even really warm. I suppose using a 100-watt charger could change that but with a 65-watt adapter this thing only gets slightly above room temp.

- Passthrough charging for my laptop. This ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot has two USB C ports. One USB C port is designated for the computer; the other for power. I like being able to use a single power connection for my PC and other small peripherals.

- NVMe Slot. The sole distinguishing factor of this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot over most others is the inclusion of the NVMe Slot. I love this feature. It allows me to save my creative work on fast storage.

What I liked least about this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot was:

- My sole gripe with this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot was the inclusion of older generation ports across the board. Every port is slower than it should be. USB A ports are of the 3.0 variety as opposed to 3.2 gen 2. The USB C Ports on this device are not Thunderbolt and HDMI is not the latest protocol. This drags down the experience with this device for those of us who make large file transfers regularly.

Overall, if you are in the market for a hub for your laptop and want something that adds the usefulness of an NVMe drive bay then this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot should be on your radar. This ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot has been very durable, cool under a full load with a 65-watt power adapter, and adds storage expansion via micro SD, full SD, and NVMe drives. I wish this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot was a Thunderbolt 4/USB4-based adapter and current generation ports. That said, I use this device daily and find it indispensable. My ASUS Laptop came with a half terabyte of storage which isn't nearly enough for large projects so I added a 2TB drive I scored a deal on during Prime Day and it's added sufficient space for my workflow. I wish I could transfer files faster with this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot but that's only an inconvenience for those of us who repeatedly work with large files. For most others, this ORICO 9-in-1 USB-C Hub Adapter with NVMe Slot will be a great companion for their computers. 4.0 out of 5.0

Buyer beware of offbrand cheap-o solutions! This underpowered, shabby piece of kit does not work as a drive enclosure for the Mac Studio. Disappointing, but I guess expected, too.

I really wanted to like this product, because I have a high need for a docking station that supports and SSD card. Unfortunately, the product has always been unstable. Sometimes during transfers, it would disappear from my hard drive list on my PC, I’ll need to pop up again after I removed it from the USB port and plugged it back in. Recently it stopped showing access to all ports. I can plug it into the PC and it will show up, but I cannot access any of the ports, and it shows that I have no memory, even when an SSD card is plugged into the unit. So basically at this point, it is a paperweight. Also, Customer Service is almost nonexistent. The only way to reach them is through email, and they have been very unresponsive.

Two main issues:

1. Only supports single sided NVMe drives. Drives with chips on both sides don't fit.

2. The included heat pad isn't thick enough to touch both the lid and the NVMe drive. If your drive isn't an especially cool drive, expect it to overheat.

Minor issue: the gap where you mount the drive into the case is very tight. If you have medium or large size hands, it is very difficult to properly get the drive into the carrier.

The docking station is great. It is working very well. All my expectations have been met I am pleased.

This review is for Orico 9-in-1 USB-C Hub with NVMEe Slot (ASIN: B09S358Q7Y). I sometimes travel with an NVMe enclosure and USB hub with my laptop. This looked like a good solution to combine both of those things into one to save space and weight for travel. This hub is good size for everything that is included. Also, I like that it has a thermal pad for the NVMe to help dissipate heat to the aluminum enclosure. NVMe drives get insanely hot, so cooling is required. The NVMe access requires the use of a screwdriver, and I can’t fly with a screwdriver, so a toolless solution would have been preferred. I like the USB-A 10Gbs ports, memory card reader, ethernet port, and HDMI output. The USB-C ports are for connecting to the laptop, and the other is for power delivery. So, I would have liked to have seen a USB-C input for this hub. I doubt I will use the HDMI port on here, but it’s unfortunate that it can only support 4K at just 30Hz. I will say I do like the heatsink fin design to help with cooling.

Overall, I am a bit mixed on how I like this. The unit seems well made, and I own some Orico devices already. I like the design and size of the enclosure. I will continue to use it until I order one with more features that I am looking for. I am looking for one that can support at least 60 Hz at 4K, has a USB-C data connection, and preferably has a toolless design. At this price point, I kind of think that some of these feature should be included.

I bought this product specifically for the NVMe SSD slot and the ethernet port. Well, when it arrived, I found that there was no way to properly secure the SSD down, just a hole where the screw needed to go (no threading). They include a rubber grommet you can use to hold it in place. Not encouraging, but I'll try it. The drive was totally unreadable when I plugged in the dock with SSD inside. It would be detected, but it could not even figure out that the SSD was formatted. Then I notice that the whole unit is getting incredibly hot quickly, despite the SSD not functioning. After trying to reconfigure the SSD and use different ports and power input configurations, it simply would not work. Do not buy this product. To top it off, I returned it well over a month ago, and they still have not refunded the money or contacted us about the product at all.

Purchased for my steam deck, installed an NVME drive and with a few command lines using the desktop mode terminal app, everything works great for steam installs, very fast too (needs USB-C Power connected and mounting on boot) Keyboard and mouse work as expected and the Deck charges fine. Not tested HDMI connectivity yet, but so far so good! Very happy with my purchase.

EDIT: The unit is now randomly disconnecting the internal SSD drive, tried different cables and SSD's, on various computers, laptops and devices, same results. It unfortunately didn't last very long. Cant use it now without random errors and file transfer failures. Seller fully refunded, so well done for that.
