Baylor Esports to Join Power Esports Conference for 2025-26 Season
Bears add depth to nation’s most dynamic conference
WACO, Texas – Baylor Esports will compete in the Power Esports Conference (PEC) for the 2025-2026 season, jointly announced Monday by the PEC and Baylor esports director and coach Adam Stanley.
“This is a great opportunity for our players, our fans, and our institution,” Stanley said. “We’re honored to be part of a growing and respected esports ecosystem.”
Joining six of the founding member schools, Baylor will step into the PEC alongside Minnesota and Utah as the conference’s class of newcomers.
Boise State, Michigan State, Syracuse, Nebraska, Kansas and Ohio State round out the conference roster, giving the PEC nine member institutions for the 2025-26 season.
Founded in 2024, the PEC provides a scheduling alliance among top tier Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institutions, giving these Division I athletic schools the opportunity to face similarly sized and resourced institutions.
With existing rivalries crossing from traditional college athletics into the emerging esports arena, the PEC is backed by its member institutions’ investments to provide top-tier production, broadcasting and marketing to major media markets.
Looking to make an immediate impact on the North American collegiate esports landscape, Baylor Esports was formally established in 2025 with the hiring of Adam Stanley as the program’s first director and coach. For the inaugural 2025-2026 season, Baylor is sponsoring a three-person Rocket League team, with professional gamers Colby “hockser” James and Andrew “Andy” Nolan already making waves in the global esports community. The final spot on the roster will be announced soon.
Baylor Esports enhances a longstanding gaming culture within the campus community, joining Oso Esports, Baylor’s gaming club that was established in 2017. Baylor Esports will explore partnering with Oso as a development academy — similar to professional soccer academies — to train and elevate student-athletes for future competition rosters in expanded gaming competitions.
Baylor Esports now looks ahead to the 2025-26 season as a member of the PEC, with the competition schedule expected to run for eight weeks in the fall and eight weeks in the spring.
