The Offices of History, Art & Archives of the U.S. House of Representatives (Offices, We, Our) welcomes users’ (You, Your) participation and comments on any of Our social media accounts (individually and collectively, Account). Currently, We share content on: X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, BlueSky, and YouTube. Each of these social media platforms has their own content and privacy policies which We encourage you to review.
Conduct on Our Account is governed by this Terms of Use. The purpose of this Account is for the Office to communicate with the general public regarding matters related to the institutional history of the U.S. House of Representatives and where You may provide feedback regarding the same. Please note that this is a moderated online discussion site and not a public forum. As a general matter, We expect You to demonstrate the qualities of respectful civil discourse in any comment on Our Account. Comments posted to this Account will be monitored and must comply with each social media platform’s individual privacy and content policies as well as these Terms of Use. By commenting on Our Account, You acknowledge that You agree to the standards of conduct set forth below.
Comments may be removed, without warning, which:
(i) are unrelated to the purpose of this Account or are not topically related to the specifics of the posting;
(ii) contain fighting words, graphic or gratuitous violence, vulgar language, profanity, nudity, obscene or indecent language or sexual content, or false representations of fact;
(iii) promote or incite illegal or fraudulent transactions or activities;
(iv) threaten, intimidate, harass, or defame any person or organization;
(v) otherwise violate Instagram’s terms of use;
(vi) constitute “spam,” such as content that appears to be from internet bots or repetitive copy-paste statements;
(vii) are commercial in nature, such as advertising, promotion, or endorsement of services or products, or solicitation of funds;
(viii) contain personally identifiable information about another individual;
(ix) misrepresent the commenter’s identity or affiliation;
(x) contain links to any other website; and/or
(xi) constitute campaign-related communications, electioneering, or fundraising efforts.
In certain cases, such as repeated offenses of this policy, extremely offensive content, or suspected “bot” or “spam” accounts, a user may be restricted or blocked. In such cases We will provide You reasonable notice and an opportunity to respond before blocking You. The views expressed in comments reflect those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official views of the Office or the U.S. House of Representatives.
