I matched the grain with the counter. Still more to do but here it is so far

How do I handle grain continuity for an L shaped desk/shelf?

"Unusable" is a strong word 😅 but the opening is narrow on the bottom because I wanted the uprights to align with the top.
That corner will just be space to hide stuff. Currently I'm planning to put some sort of rounded door on it or something more work than it's worth. (lazy suzan and bottles isn't a bad idea either)

How do I handle grain continuity for an L shaped desk/shelf?

I am building a shelf that has three solid "L" pieces, and then individual shelves.

My understanding is grain should be parallel with the front edge for shelves, but if I do this for the 3 circled shelves, the grain will be perpendicular to the 3 solid L pieces.

Would this look strange? Should I have the grain go front to back for those 3 shelves (or would that look strange 😅)?

Shelves are 3/4" white oak ply, supported on back and sides, with front edge banding.

Here is an image of the base so far, the next shelf (circled) is what has me stumped
