Whether you’re leading an activity, teaching expectations, introducing a new skill, or helping young people solve a conflict, how you teach matters just as much as what you teach. In this interactive session, participants will experience the 7 Brain-Based Steps That Make Learning Stick and discover practical strategies that increase engagement, improve retention, and help young people apply what they’ve learned long after the experience ends. Participants will leave with a simple framework they can immediately use in after-school programs, summer camps, enrichment classes, and youth development settings.

3 Words That Help Y.O.U. Be the Difference

This engaging one‑hour training introduces staff to the core idea of Y.O.U.—Your Own Understanding—and how it connects to living out the mission of Parks & Recreation every day. Participants will explore three powerful words that shape personal purpose, reinforce the department’s values, and strengthen the message we share with our community. Through discussion and reflective activities, staff will learn how their individual strengths, responsibilities, and understanding play a direct role in creating safe, welcoming, and memorable experiences for all who use our parks, programs, and facilities.
