The Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes is a global forum that strengthens the work of humanities centers and institutes through advocacy, grant-making, and inclusive collaboration. CHCI advances cross-institutional partnerships, recognizes regional humanities cultures, and mobilizes the collective capacity of the humanities to engage the most pressing issues in society today.

Membership Activity Fund Recipients (Q1 2026)

We are delighted to announce the six recipients of funding from the CHCI Membership Activity Fund for 2026 Q1. The amount of funding totaled $30,000 and is derived from our membership dues and our current Mellon grant focused on global inclusive collaborations. The next deadline for funding is October 5, 2026.

Lithium Mining and Environmental (In)justice

As part of CHCI's Global Justice and Humanities Practices initiative, the project ‘‘Environmental (In)justice: Project Jadar and Lithium Frenzy,’’ has collectively published an online conference and a publication "Lithium Mining and Environmental (In)justice" in both English and Serbian. The CHCI funded initiative helped the "Environmental (In)justice" group connect with colleagues from abroad, and played an important role in establishing a new research group at the University of Belgrade dedicated to ecological issues.
