Create and Orchestrate: The Path to Claiming Your Creative Power from an Unlikely Entrepreneur

4.8 out of 5 stars (167)

When Marcus Whitney moved to Nashville in 2000, he was a college dropout with a one-year-old and a baby on the way. He waited tables and lived in a week-to-week efficiency hotel. From the outside, Marcus looked like the furthest thing from a budding entrepreneur. But inside, he knew entrepreneurship was his path to a better life.

Two decades later, Marcus has founded two innovative companies in the healthcare space, exited a tech marketing company, and co-owns Nashville’s new Major League Soccer team.

In
Create and Orchestrate, Marcus walks you through his unlikely journey from waiting tables to building companies. He demystifies much of what keeps people from pursuing entrepreneurship and explains why it’s the only vocation that allows you to control your time by using your creativity. When you control your time, you can claim your full power by matching up what you’re great at with the problems you see in the world.

The world needs more entrepreneurs who can offer fresh solutions.
Create and Orchestrate will give you the confidence to say: Why not me?

I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced pre-launch copy of Create and Orchestrate., so I feel confident to say without hyperbole - this book serves as both an invitation and a promise that transcends beyond the pages you'll enjoy reading - "YOU have creative power!" Steps to realise and actualise that power is what this book is about. Complete with hard-earned lessons, this book can save you the pain of making costly unconscious mistakes you want to avoid while empowering you to actively learn and how to effectively pivot from key every life moment you encounter. If you're looking for fluff or theory, then this is not the book for you. Both "Create" and "Orchestrate" are verbs. As you'll explore in this book, it's about being deliberate and taking effective action to set up and optimise the conditions that increase the probability of success. It's a conscious sport! Read this book if you're serious about "creating" and "orchestrating" a life that matters!

I am thankful to have been Marcus’s co-worker and co-founder, but most importantly his friend. He always leaves me impressed and in awe as he shoots for the stars. Marcus practices what he preaches in his brilliant book.

Create & Orchestrate was well worth the wait!

If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, this book will provide you with the wisdom and motivation you need to keep climbing that mountain.

Marcus has done a wonderful job of weaving his stories of his successes and failures together with important information about running a successful business and overcoming the hurdles.

You will be left inspired and ready to take the necessary steps to launch and grow your first or next business.

I like the fact he tells his missteps and blunders. His authentic story shows his transformation from immature to mature. From failure to triumph. He shares knowledge and wisdom. There are practical tips and he demystifies "business speak" for the non-business educated. Though I have read numerous business books, he has new insights and fresh frameworks. His story is inspiring and his personal mission to make entrepreneurship accessible to all is evident and commendable. Buy the book and follow him on social media and his website. You will appreciate his obvious mission to help others.

An extremely powerful story that follows a young African-American man from college through his journey of entrepreneurship. With varied experiences, Marcus succinctly explores and explains how one can take control of the path forward and achieve greatness. A role model for all, but specifically for young black boys and girls who to often see African-Americans in a negative light. Thanks, Marcus for sharing your story. It has been great witnessing it up close!

I'm amazed and I don't regret getting to the end of that book. A lot of young black people (but not only) are in search of stories that can inspire them and to which they can relate to. This is one of those. Reading the story of Marcus makes me believe that I can do it too. I can succeed as an entrepreneur.

I like that the relevant basics of entrepreneurship are explained in an easily understandable way. It's not a basic motivational book written to make you feel good and I like that. There is honesty in there.

We're only in February but that's the best book I've read this year on entrepreneurship.
