Inspiration
Patient intake is still slow, repetitive, and often incomplete before the visit starts. We wanted to make intake feel as easy as answering a phone call, while giving front-desk staff and clinicians structured information before the patient arrives.
## What it does The agent calls patients before appointments, confirms identity, collects intake details by voice, structures the information, then updates the clinic dashboard/EHR, and sends a summary by email for patient's review.
## How we built it We used a Node backend with Twilio Voice for calls and speech capture, Gemini for the conversation and structured tool calls, ElevenLabs for natural voice output, Supabase as the mock EHR, and a front-desk dashboard for live intake visibility.
## Challenges we ran into The hardest parts were keeping the voice flow reliable and dealing with real-world telephony issues like voicemail, dropped calls, and SMS compliance.
## Accomplishments that we're proud of We replicated an end-to-end working healthcare intake loop: live phone call, consent gate, structured data capture, dashboard updates, emergency/advice guardrails, and confirmation delivery. It tracks the clinical workflow in the real world.
## What's the next step Next we would add EHR integrations, stronger PHI/security controls, multilingual support, better retry workflows, as well as production-grade monitoring and audit trails.
