Our latest release, Extinction of Discovery Island, accompanies the exhibition—pick up a copy at the event. About: A Bought Kingdom is a video installation framed as a fable but grounded in historical fact. It traces the extinction of the Dusky Seaside Sparrow, a small, non migratory, not very fancy, local Florida bird that lived in the salt marshes of Merritt Island, an area separated from Cape Canaveral by just a river. The species’ habitat was gradually destroyed by the development of the Kennedy Space Center and its infrastructure to reach the “Greatest Human Achievement”- the moon landing.
