FindMyMouse ("we", "us") is operated by Giovanni Laerte Frongia (P.IVA 04211900925, PEC: [email protected]). This page explains what data we collect, why, and your rights under GDPR.

What we collect

  • Account data when you sign in: email (legacy beta access), or Discord/Google/Twitch profile (display name, public avatar, account ID) for SSO. We never receive your password.
  • Usage analytics via PostHog (EU-hosted, cookieless mode): anonymous interactions like which mouse you viewed, how long, which features you used. No personally identifying data is tied to these events unless you sign in.
  • Reviews and comments you publish on the platform.
  • Email address if you join the waitlist or feedback form.

Why we collect it

  • To run the service (legitimate interest + contract).
  • To improve the product based on real usage patterns (legitimate interest).
  • To send you the access code or beta updates if you opted in (consent).

Affiliate links

FindMyMouse earns a commission when you click an affiliate link to a partner store (Amazon via Geni.us, partner storefronts like Pulsar). Click events are logged anonymously and never tied to your identity unless you're signed in. No personal data is shared with the partner store beyond the standard browser referrer header.

Your GDPR rights

  • Access: request a copy of your stored data.
  • Rectify: correct any inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: delete your account and linked data at any time.
  • Portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Object: opt out of analytics or marketing emails.

Send any request to [email protected] or by certified email to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

Data retention

Account data is kept until you request deletion. Anonymous analytics are retained up to 12 months. Email backups (encrypted, EU-hosted) are kept up to 7 days for disaster recovery.

Hosting

Servers in Germany (Hetzner, Nuremberg + Falkenstein for backups). CDN via Cloudflare. Analytics via PostHog EU. All EU-hosted, no transfers outside the EEA.

Cookies and storage

We use the following client-side storage, all of it strictly necessary for authentication (exempt from EU consent under ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3)):

  • localStorage entries (`fmm_token`, `fmm_email`) for legacy access-code sessions, used to send the auth header on API requests.
  • HttpOnly cookie (`fmm_legacy_session`) for the same legacy session, scoped to `.findmymouse.com`, so the server can serve the right page for signed-in visitors.
  • HttpOnly cookie (`fmm_user_session*`) for OAuth (Discord/Google/Twitch) social sessions, set when you sign in via SSO.

PostHog analytics runs in cookieless mode (no tracking cookies). We do not set marketing or third-party tracking cookies.

Changes

We'll post any material change here and announce it in our Discord. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Acceptable use

  • Don't abuse, scrape, or stress-test the service. Reasonable browsing is fine; bulk automation is not.
  • Reviews and comments must be your own work. No spam, hate speech, or impersonation.
  • We reserve the right to remove content or revoke access for violations.

Affiliate disclosure

FindMyMouse earns a commission on qualifying purchases when you click an affiliate link. This does not change your price. We don't accept payment to feature any specific mouse; the catalog is curated independently.

Intellectual property

3D scans, derived metrics, layouts, and the FindMyMouse name are ours. Mouse names, brand names, and product images belong to their respective manufacturers; they appear here for comparison purposes under fair use. Don't redistribute the scans or derived data without written permission.

Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Shape comparisons and metrics are best-effort and may have errors; they are not a substitute for handling a mouse in person. We are not liable for any damages arising from use of the service to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or engage in conduct that endangers the service or other users.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Italian law. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Cagliari, Italy.
