Fortmi

Self-hosted · Private · Agent-native

Memory that understands.

A knowledge base that comprehends what you store — the meaning behind your notes, the links between ideas, and the context that connects them. On your hardware.

$ curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fortemi/fortemi/main/docker-compose.bundle.yml
$ docker compose -f docker-compose.bundle.yml up -d

Value

Your notes, finally connected

“Search that misses the point.” “Knowledge without connections.” “Media files are dark matter.” Fortémi answers with hybrid recall and a graph that links ideas the moment they relate.

Capabilities

Retrieval that understands meaning

BM25 and dense vectors fused with reciprocal rank fusion, an automatic knowledge graph with SKOS tagging, and content-aware ingestion across text, image, audio, and video.

  • 43 MCP agent tools
  • 131 document types
  • 13 extraction adapters
  • runs on an 8 GB GPU
  • BYO LLM inference

Surfaces

Three ways to use Fortémi

Fortémi server

The self-hosted Rust engine for teams, agent fleets, and backend services.

Server docs →

fortemi-react

Fortémi in the browser — no server, embeddable in any React app, with real Postgres powered by PGlite and IndexedDB.

HotM

The native desktop app — the same memory model, no Docker or ops required.

Why self-host

Private by default. No cloud required.

Keep embeddings on-device, bring your own LLM, and run air-gapped. Fortémi is the memory layer your agents read and write through — on hardware you control.

Get started

Up and running in one command

Pull the all-in-one bundle from GHCR and start it, install the HotM desktop app, or build from source. Runs on a single commodity GPU.

$ curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/fortemi/fortemi/main/docker-compose.bundle.yml
$ docker compose -f docker-compose.bundle.yml up -d

Fortémi runs on your workstation or server — send yourself the install command to run when you're at your machine.

Licensing

Free as a workstation tool

Use Fortémi free on your own machine, including for commercial work. Server deployments need a commercial license.
