Since he was a teenager, Cameron wanted to train in calisthenics and learn skills like handstands, levers, and planches. But for a long time, these goals started to feel more and more out of reach. That started to change when he began using MacroFactor, and in the end, Cameron not only achieved his weight-loss goals, but also began pulling off moves he thought were no longer possible.
To understand how he got there, let’s go back to where he started.
Before stadium laps and handstands
Cameron, a 34-year-old director of technology for SoFi Stadium, wasn’t a stranger to training. He had played football in high school and lifted on and off through college, but he had never really paired his training with his nutrition into a solid plan before.
“My diet and exercise plan before MacroFactor was not very sustainable,” he said. “Anytime I wanted to lose weight, I would try to run every day and eat more salads. I never tried counting macros or really understood the nutritional value of the foods I ate.”
“I would usually see some success for as long as I maintained my daily runs and salads,” he continued, “but I would always fall off the wagon or hit my goal and go back to normal eating habits.”

Cameron’s experience is probably familiar to a lot of people. When you are mostly winging it, you can make some progress. But if you want results that lasts, those little details start to matter.
For Cameron, that meant understanding how to strategize his Calories during restriction, and getting a better handle on the basics of nutrition tracking. He considered apps like MyFitnessPal and Lose It, then found MacroFactor.
“When I decided I wanted to start taking my health, nutrition, and fitness goals seriously, I started doing a lot of research,” Cameron said. “I considered a few different macro tracking apps, and then I found MacroFactor. I was really drawn to the ease of use, along with the weekly updates, expenditure data, and coaching program.”
From tracking to transformation
Cameron started using MacroFactor, and things took off quickly.

“I lost most of my weight over about eight months using MacroFactor daily and doing exactly what it said using the week-to-week adaptive coaching,” Cameron said. “I walked my dog to hit my 10,000 steps daily and lifted weights at home every morning with adjustable dumbbells and a bench. I lost about 60lb. ”He was doing the daily work, but just as importantly, he was starting to understand why that work was paying off. Understanding your expenditure, metabolism, and the variables that affect progress can be a real game changer. Since starting MacroFactor, Cameron has moved through several different phases. He lost weight, shifted into a lean bulk, and eventually started working toward the calisthenics goals he had wanted to pursue for years.
“I’ve hit my goal multiple times, and I continue to use the app to set and aim for new goals,” he said. “Since I started last August with no experience or knowledge of the sport, I’ve been able to accomplish an L-sit, back lever, handstand, and tuck planche, and I’m hoping to do my first front lever and full planche in the coming months.”
“This is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a teenager but was never in good enough shape or knew where to start,” he continued. “I think being in the best shape of my life plus proving to myself that I was able to dedicate myself to something with the weight loss was enough for me to finally go for it, and I’m glad I did.”

Features that made it work
With Cameron’s growing understanding of his intake and expenditure, his favorite MacroFactor feature probably is not a surprise.
“I think the best MacroFactor feature is the expenditure data,” he said. “This allows me to have a pretty good idea of how many Calories I’m using in a day, understand what my deficit is, and be a lot more flexible in my day-to-day life. Knowing how many extra Calories I have available also helps me understand how much flexibility I have to go out to eat, have a drink, or enjoy a cheat day.”

Because Cameron enjoys cooking at home, the recipe library also became an important part of making tracking feel manageable.
“I also have to give an honorable mention to the recipe library,” he continued. “As someone who loves to cook, being able to add individual ingredients to a recipe and still log it is something I was worried I wouldn’t be able to track, but MacroFactor makes it very easy.”

Parting advice from Cameron
Cameron shows how much having a dream and a little education can give you a lot power.
“I’ve learned more from using MacroFactor than I’ve ever learned about nutrition, fitness, weight loss, and my own body,” he said. “I now have a pretty good understanding of weight loss, body recomposition, and metabolic adaptation. I also understand the general nutritional value of most whole foods and how to balance a healthy lifestyle while still being able to live and enjoy my life.”
And when people ask him how he made the change, Cameron keeps his advice simple.
“I have a lot of friends who have asked me how I lost weight or for advice, and I honestly tell each of them to download MacroFactor, set a coached goal, and just do what the app tells you,” he continued. “It takes discipline and commitment to stick to it, but it really is as simple as that. You can’t deny science.”
