help_pakistan is an auction community designed to help out victims of the recent flood disaster in Pakistan, much like help_haiti and gulf_aid_now. Their current auction goes until August 29th at 1 PM EST, so if you're interested in bidding, the time is going fast! I didn't offer for this one due to lack of time, but I am planning to bid on an auction tomorrow if it doesn't climb out of my price range by then.

glymr asked for some help pimping out this worthy cause and her offer, so for anyone who's interested, her offer can be found here. It's for a 1,000 word fic, current bid is $10. In addition, the awesome oroburos69 has put together a link of all DC fandom-related offers here. I've got my eye on one!

Fandom has done some great things in situations like this, so I'm putting this out there just in case it finds someone who sees an offer that gets their attention. :)

Remix Duello

This is a new take on Remix, where instead of the remixer choosing any of your fics, you get to assign them a specific fic you want remixed. Of course, that means you get one fic to remix as well, so it's definitely not for everyone.

However, the minimum word count is only 500 words, so it's not a huge requirement. I signed up out of curiosity, and volunteered to write DC and Marvel. I don't know how many other participants for those fandoms there are going to be, though, so I figured I'd post this on the off chance anyone here wanted to participate.

The Gathering - Update!

A few months ago, I posted here about the project I was involved in, The Gathering. It's an independent comic book anthology with a bunch of my friends from a comic book message board. I've got a two page story in it, and a future volume will have a seven-page story by me!

The Gathering

Okay, this isn't something I've talked much about on here, because I was making sure that everything came together, both for me and for the book as a whole before I started hyping it, but it looks like it's a go!

A few months ago, some friends of mine and I from a board I belong to started putting together a comic book. It's a themed anthology (the theme for this edition is "hope"), and each of us were paired with an artist from the board and created two-page stories. It's currently being put together by our ridiculously awesome editor, Andrew Goletz, and should be available for sale relatively soon! Yours truly has contributed a story focusing on original superheroes, and I'll let everyone know when it hits the stands, in case anyone wants to get a look at my first published comic book work! *bounces*

Right now, there's only one story up (not mine), but trust me when I say that I've read a couple of the scripts going into this, and it's an amazing collection of talent. The actual anthology will have superhero, slice of life, and all genres of storytelling. This is something I'm really proud of, and my two pages were brought to life by a fantastic artist.

1. I write down a list of 15 characters and keep them secret from you for now.

2. You choose however many of those you like and ask me a question about them. Examples: "What happens when 5 and 9 are forced to take care of a baby?" or "1, 4, and 8 walk into a bar. What happens next?" or "What does 3 do when s/he finds out that 10 is pregnant with 7's child?" You get the idea. :D
