Static Channel is a Canadian audiovisual duo based in Berlin and Helsinki, shaping immersive experiences where sound and visuals ebb and flow in dynamic conversation. Composed of new media artist and synthesist Monika Hauck and electronic producer and bass guitarist Alex Iso, the duo navigates shifting sonic landscapes, pulling on threads from ambient, electronic, and experimental influences. Their work takes form through multidisciplinary installations and live performances, where improvisation and movement guide the ever-evolving dialogue between space, sound, and image. Each moment exposes unseen connections and unfiltered presence. In past iterations the group has ranged from a 7-piece post-rock band to a laptop duo. Since 2015, Static Channel has toured and performed notable music and arts events including Hillside Festival (CA), Flourish Festival (CA), Electric Eclectics (CA), Nuit Blanche (CA) and Y2K Live Looping Festival (MX). They have created live visuals for musical artists such as Faust, The Sorority, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Deerhoof, Absolutely Free and US Girls. Alex Iso graduated with a Masters in Music Production, Technology and Innovation from Berklee Valencia (ES) in 2022, and has since been active performing in Berlin, where he is a member and resident DJ of the Mindscape artist collective. Monika Hauck a Masters in New Media from Aalto University (FI) and has shown work and performed in Helsinki Design Week, Southern Sweden Design Days, Aavistus VJ Festival, Entropy, Signature Dark and was a finalist for Tampere Film Festival’s VJ Contest.
