    I would like to introduce my and @audreyr's baby daughter, Uma. She was born earlier this month and weighed in at 8 lbs 5 oz (3770 grams). Mommy, daddy, and daughter are all healthy and happy.

    In python, walrus operators are awesome! Note: Apologies to @gvanrossum for my initial public dismissal of walrus operators. You were right, I was wrong. 🐍❤️
    # When Guido van Rossum proposed walrus operators,
# I initially objected. This simple example
# changed my mind.

# No walrus operator
ONE = 1
TWO = 2
THREE = 3
FOUR = 4

VALUES = [
    ONE,
    TWO,
    THREE,
    FOUR,
]

# Walrus operator means less code!
VALUES = [
    ONE := 1,
    TWO := 2,
    THREE := 3,
    FOUR := 4,
]

    Yesterday I ended the day stuck on a hard programming problem. Just now I woke up at 4:03AM with the solution. 12 lines of code later it worked. And now I'm totally wide awake. #coderlife

    Friday confession: I didn't speak until I was 4 years old. I didn't read until I was 7. I didn't start programming professionally until I was about 27. It's never to late to start anything.

    Nine years ago today I danced with someone at an impromptu tango lesson. Little did I know @audreyr and I would consider that our first date.

    Ted Greenfeld, my father, passed away today. He was 84 years old. These photos of us in 2010 capture a favorite memory. I was about to move to California and he gave some useful advice. Then we got a little playful. It was a wonderful day.

    After a long day of writing code, my reward is lounging on the couch with my daughter.

    My daughter, Uma, is over 7 months old now. Traveling away from my baby girl is harder than I imagined.

    What I think about open source: Except for a lucky few people, it's a system that enriches the wealthy at the cost of my unpaid labor

    As you can tell from my online nickname, python means a lot to me. It was why I stayed in programming - I was that close to finding another career. Then I probably would have died a bitter, lonely person. More thoughts on this later, but suffice to say: Thank you @gvanrossum!
