My journey as a researcher began with a PhD in applied math for the automotive & aeronautic industries! Every day now, I'm amazed by the parallels between solving physics problems and building eth future. Blockchain draws from so many fields โ€” an often underappreciated fact!

1/ ๐Ÿงต Ethereumโ€™s Execution Layer: What if we replaced the EVM with RISC-V? @VitalikButerin proposes a radical shiftโ€”replacing the EVM with a general-purpose RISC-V VM. This could dramatically simplify and speed up Ethereumโ€™s long-term scalability. Hereโ€™s how & why ๐Ÿงต

1/ ๐Ÿงต What is lean Ethereum and why is it gaining momentum? At Forschungsingenieurtagung in Berlin, @VitalikButerin and @drakefjustin laid out a bold vision for a simpler, more optimal Ethereum. Hereโ€™s a deep dive into their R&D breakout session ๐Ÿ‘‡

1/ ๐Ÿงต Ethereum is moving toward integrating zkEVM proofs directly into L1 consensus. A 3-phase roadmap was presented during Berlin interop by @asn_d6, tackling proof requirements, verifier upgrades, and formal verification โ€” all while avoiding recursive Groth16 โ†“

1/ Ethereum is preparing for the post-quantum era. Today was the first lean Ethereum interop call with @zeamETH and @ReamLabs teams. We will dissect their Post-Quantum Devnet-1 proposals. Let us start with @ReamLabs ๐Ÿ‘‡

1/ Ethereum should replace the EVM with RISC-V by @VitalikButerin at @protocol_berg. Not tomorrowโ€”but eventually. Why? Because ZK proving costs are dominated by EVM execution. And if Ethereum wants to scale seriously, replacing the EVM is the next big lever. Letโ€™s break it down

WIP zkEVM book from EFโ€™s zkEVM team for Ethereum engineers/researchers has been published recently: zkevm.fyi (repo: github.com/eth-act/zkevm-โ€ฆ). It explains what weโ€™re building, why, and how. Feedback welcome, under active construction.

1/ In Berlin, a new Ethereum scaling loop has been discussedโ€”a systematic, repeatable approach to raising L1 gas limits safely and predictably. This thread breaks down the strategy, timelines, bottlenecks, and tooling that make it possible. ๐Ÿงต

๐Ÿงต What are native rollups, and why do they matter for Ethereumโ€™s future? At L2day in Berlin, @drakefjustin presented a new vision for rollups that are executed natively on L1. This thread breaks it down โ€” from motivations to mechanisms.๐Ÿ‘‡

1/ New zkSNARK tech drop: Jagged PCS by @SuccinctLabs How do you commit to many sparse trace tables, but still prove everything with one polynomial? Meet Jagged PCS โ€” a PCS designed for zkVMs that slashes verifier overhead without compromising structure. ๐Ÿงต

The deeper I go into ZK and crypto tech, the clearer it becomes: we desperately need math educators to bridge the gap between theoretical mathematicians and system software engineers. Just the guys who draw nice diagrams and understandable summaries. Love this part of the job!

(1/11) Ethereum's future demands faster, smaller, and post-quantum secure SNARKs. A key challenge is proximity testing in modern proof systems. Enter WHIR: a new hash-based protocol designed for this task. Today we just published: "WHIR for Ethereum" ๐Ÿ‘‡
