We're very close to a historical event. We're testing PoS on #Ethereum. Today will be the first mainnet shadow fork ever. We're roughly 690 blocks (~2 h) away from TTD. And we finalized on goerli 🚀🚀🚀 There was some confusion on the network because of two different terminal blocks and lots of non-updated nodes, so we didn't finalize earlier. We're still looking into whats happening, but so far it looks quite good

Someone unsuccessfully tried to attack #ethereum today by publishing a long (~550) blocks which contained invalid pow's. Only a small percentage of @nethermind nodes switched to this invalid chain. All other clients rejected the long sidechain as invalid

BTW, the mainnet shadow fork was a huge success! Nethermind and Besu stopped at the transition, but a fix is being deployed for Nethermind that allows them to sync up. Geth and Erigon are progressing happily. All beacon chain clients are in agreement. …stats.mainnetshadowfork1.ethdevops.io

Geth v.1.16.0 finally ships the PBSS based archive node, you can have a geth archive node in ca. 1.9TB (down from 20+TB)🚀🚀 Queries against historical states (What was my balance at block X) are possible, proofs against historical states are not (yet) Great work by @Gary_Rong

Geth v1.16.0 is out! This major release introduces path-based archive mode, along with several performance improvements. You can enable archive mode in the default path scheme by setting the flag: --gcmode=archive. Release notes: github.com/ethereum/go-et… #ethereum #golang
