Big day for post-16 qualifications reform. A shame that this comes right at the end of term when school and college leaders have no time to digest or complete follow-up actions! Key announcements from DfE today: ✅ Final subject content confirmed for the first wave of new V levels, Foundation Certificates and Occupational Certificates due to launch from September 2027, including digital, education, accounting and finance, early years, hospitality and culinary skills. ✅ A new Framework for Transferable Skills and Work-Related Behaviours has been published, setting out the common skills language that will run across the new qualifications, including communication, critical thinking, planning and self-management. ✅ DfE has published the final list of Level 2 and 3 qualifications that will lose 16-19 funding approval from August 2027, although funding has been retained for two large land-based qualifications while future T Level options are explored. Taken together, these publications provide much greater detail on what the reformed 16-19 landscape will look like from 2027. Useful links: 📄 Subject content response:
