Build Your First AI Phone Agent

Join Vonage and Google Developer Groups in NYC & Brooklyn on a most excellent adventure where we totally code in the browser, squeeze into our TARDIS, and flue back through time powered by cosmic intelligence to make a Vonage phone call to one of history's greatest minds! Allons-y! Learn how to build an AI voice agent you can call. Using GitHub Codespaces, the Flue Framework, and the Vonage Voice API, you'll create a web application that places real phone calls to an AI agent for natural, real-time conversations. By the end of the session, you'll have a fully functioning application, hands-on experience with modern AI and voice technologies, and a project you can continue building after the workshop. Run of Show 6 PM — Doors Open Come early, grab a drink and a bite, find your people. 7:00 PM — Code Jam will begin Join Dwane Hemmings JavaScript Developer Advocate at Vonage to learn how to build an AI voice agent you can call. The Format Tables are set up for laptops all night. Food and drinks are provided by Vonage. More technical attendees are encouraged to circulate during open build time to help people who are stuck. Partners Co-hosted by Vonage and Google Developer Groups in NYC & Brooklyn. Food and drinks provided by Vonage.

NYC AI Builder Nights — Workshop Edition

A community night for AI builders, founders, and curious tinkerers. Part workshop, part lightning talks, part open lab, structured enough to feel purposeful, loose enough to feel human. This isn't a sit-and-watch event. Everyone builds something. Run of Show 5:30 PM — Doors Open Come early, grab a drink and a bite, find your people. 6:00 PM — Lightning Talks Short and casual. Speakers share what they're building, what surprised them, or what they learned the hard way. A TechWalk community speaker will kick things off — details coming soon. 6:20 PM — AI Anonymous A quick round of intros: who you are, what you're working on, and what you want to leave with tonight. 6:45 PM — Featured Workshop: Vince DiPaola Hands-on and built for builders. You'll work through a cutting-edge AI practice with Vince, and leave with material to keep going on your own. Topic: Loop Engineering. Bring your laptop. 7:30 PM — Open Build Time The core of the night. Tables, laptops, music, food. Work on your own AI project, pair up with someone you just met, or flag down a TA. Think embedded office hours inside a social event. Featured Workshop: Vince DiPaola Vince DiPaola builds AI systems and teaches people to build their own. Out of Brooklyn, he runs teamvince: corporate AI enablement, 1:1 coaching, and project-based consulting that gets AI work out of the slide deck and into daily workflows. He's shipped 45+ AI products in 2026, and most of what he teaches comes straight from that: the patterns that hold up when you're shipping weekly, not just what demos well once. Loop Engineering is one of those patterns. It's the upgrade from prompting to designing the loop an agent runs on; the cycle where it does the work, tests itself, and corrects before you ever see the result. Tonight he'll teach it hands-on. You'll build a working loop on your own project and leave with material to keep going. Chatbots reply. Agents run laps. Lightning Talks A TechWalk community speaker will open the talks, stay tuned for details. Want to give a lightning talk? We're looking for one more short talk, 10 minutes or less. If you're building something interesting or have a lesson worth sharing, reach out to the organizers to get on the agenda. The Format Tables are set up for laptops all night. Food and drinks are provided by Vonage. More technical attendees are encouraged to circulate during open build time to help people who are stuck. If you've been meaning to finally start that AI project or can't find time to learn something new, this is a good night. Partners Co-hosted by Vonage and TechWalk. Food and drinks provided by Vonage.
