The crash that inspired trackit · COTA · Turn 11

Know your
parts' limits.
Before the track tells you.

A $150 master cylinder past its max life caused $25,000 of damage at COTA. Managing component lifing & service intervals is still archaic — and dangerous. Thousands of drivers no longer leave it to chance.

Alex Koreiba

“During an IMSA Prototype Challenge weekend at Road Atlanta during Petit Le Mans in LMP3, we had the pace to fight for pole when the power steering began to fade during qualifying. From the cockpit, it made the car heavy and inconsistent through the high-speed sections, costing us the ability to fully commit on our push laps. The issue traced back to a component nearing the end of its service life that hadn't been flagged early enough. It ultimately cost us a shot at pole and put us on the back foot for the race — a clear example of how even a small, preventable issue can have a massive impact at this level.”

Travis Fischer · Roosterfish Racing

“At the Parker 400 in January, the Roosterfish Racing team had a hard lesson in how small oversights can cost big results. We were charging through the field from 12th up to 3rd, with the pace to take the lead on the next lap, when a power steering line — an overlooked component that was well past its service interval — ruptured and ended our run. That moment forced us to rethink how we manage parts and maintenance across the car. After implementing trackit, we completely streamlined our part lifecycle tracking and service intervals, eliminating the guesswork. Just two months later at the Mint 400 — one of the most grueling races on the calendar, where attrition is the norm — we ran a clean race with zero mechanical issues and came away with a solid finish.”

Laurents Hoerr

“During a development day of LMP3, we broke a wheel bearing which proved to be over lifetime and finally cost us around half a day of development time on track after recovery and replacement. At this stage, you just want to focus on track time and not waiting in the pit.”
