18 years ago today, my brother was killed in Iraq.
He was my best friend
Tough as hell, funny as hell
The first to show up
The last to back down
He lived with purpose
He died with honor
He still shows up for me, in ways no one sees
His absence is loud
His legacy is louder
12 years ago my world changed forever when my brother and best friend gave his life in service to this country.

Travis Manion is remembered as a Marine and warrior, but first & foremost, he was my brother. It's hard to comprehend that my only sibling and best friend is no longer here, but I also realize how incredibly blessed I was to have him in my life for 26 years. #NationalSiblingsDay
Today marks what would have been my brother Travis’s 40th birthday. He never had the chance to celebrate this milestone birthday, but I will raise a glass (or two) for him tonight to celebrate the life of a hero who I was privileged to call my brother and best friend.

They are not on a plane yet, but inside the airport safe and waiting. When I am able to find the right words I will share the incredible story of how it all happened. For now, just keep praying they get on a flight soon.

Found the silver lining in today’s world when I realized there was nothing holding us back from heading to Arlington to visit my brother. When life slows down you certainly have more time to focus on what is important. Grateful I had that opportunity today. ❤️
At least four families across the United States will be receiving this Gold Star pin after they get a knock on the door informing them that their loved one gave their life in Afghanistan today.
