We’re out in force today across London cheering on 250 #TeamSamaritans runners bravely taking on London Marathon 💚 Every step they take today is a step for suicide prevention, supporting someone in their darkest hour who is struggling to cope. A massive good luck to them all 👏

If you’re stuck in dark place in your head right now this post is for you 💚
You are not your thoughts, really, you’re not. Read that again, take a breath, let it settle in.

We know thoughts can take you to such unkind places, they can tell you you’re worthless, that no one cares, that this pain will never stop and maybe even you’re better off not being here.

But thoughts aren’t facts, no matter how loud they get. You are the one hearing them, surviving them every day and that’s no small thing. We know how heavy it can get, and you don’t have to face it alone. Talk to us, we get it. Call free on 116 123. Here whenever you’re ready.

A simple conversation could help save someone’s life. If you spot someone who doesn’t look OK. Small, soft questions can be a gentle way in - they interrupt the cycle of thoughts and help someone shift a little inside and engage with the world outside of their thoughts
Not sure how to approach someone who might be struggling? Try starting with..

Do you know the nearest place to get a coffee?

Hey do you need any help?

Do you mind if i set here?

That's a very cut dog sitting over there isn't it?

Excuse me, do you have the time?

It's so rainy today, isn't it!

More people are turning to AI chatbots for support when they’re struggling. They're already a part of people’s lives, but they’re not fully regulated. We’ve been asking the government to bring them under the Online Safety Act so they are made safer for people at risk of suicide.
