Formal verification should be a central part of the development, not a simple audit to perform at the end. With V4 we started integrating invariants at the very beginning of the process, validating them continuously as the development progressed.

Certora has formally verified Aave V4. This process covered the Liquidity Hub and Spoke contracts, along with the underlying mathematical libraries. The verification confirmed that the Solidity implementations of V4's contracts are correct according to Certora's formal rules.

Aave V4 was designed for formal verification. This is the only way to secure code against future attacks. One needs to specify the required properties and then use Certora Prover or other tools to ensure the code satisfies them.
