Websites, without the ceremony.
A friendlier static site generator.
Everything a website needs is built in. Tinker with yours if you want to; you don't have to.
Install it and make a site
curl -fsSL https://get.statac.dev | sh
statac new my-site
cd my-site
statac serve
Serving `.statac/serve` at http://localhost:3000/
five questions, no config file to write!
On Windows, or prefer Homebrew? Installing has the other ways.
When something’s wrong, it points to the line
warning Broken link: nothing is published at `/abut/`
content/posts/post-1.md, line 5

Did you mean `/about/`?
More: https://statac.dev/e/broken-link/
Statac shows the file, the line and the exact text, and suggests a fix
if it has a good one. The More: link opens a page that explains that
kind of problem. Your editor shows the same problem as you type, and if
anything stops the build, nothing is published.
See where every value comes from
While statac serve runs, the debug panel shows every
value your templates can use on the page you’re looking at, and the
file and line each one came from. Change a template, save, and watch
the page update.

What you get
- Everything included Feeds, resized images, search, social cards, webmentions, Sass and code colours are built in, with no plugins to install.
- In your editor Problems show up as you type in VS Code, Zed and Sublime Text, with completion, details on hover and quick fixes. See Editors.
- Links that keep working Rename or move a page, and Statac warns that its old URL has gone and gives you the redirect to add, so links to your site from elsewhere don’t break.
- IndieWeb and sharing Feeds for readers, social cards for link previews, and webmentions so your pages can show responses from other sites, all from your own site.
- Images handled Add an image as you normally would in Markdown. Readers get it in several sizes, as AVIF with a JPEG fallback.
- Bring your site with you
statac importbrings a Hugo, Jekyll, Zola or Eleventy site across, and lists anything it couldn’t bring. See Arriving from another tool.
And the rest
Also: tags and series, pagination, sites in several languages, a preview that reloads as you save, and templates and snippets to copy.
