some rambling tho'ts about an all American past time

we eat, breathe and dream baseball at this house. it consumes my husband's every tho't from April to October. I am a fan, mainly b/c we are doing something together (and b/c I love tiger's blood snowcones...and an occasional ballpark frank...could use a few less innings). hot summer evenings spent at the baseball field is where you can usually find us. even Jack enjoys a game or 2 (until the mascot appears and then it is game over). can't wait to take Kate to her first game this summer. hope she's not a crier like her brother.

I was not a good softball player in my youth. My hand/eye coordination is/was really bad. I got more fat lips and black eyes than base hits. Aaron, on the other hand, is very talented. he has played as a young boy all the way up through college. Papa boys are bread to play baseball. This is apparent in Jack. the kid is a natural and has hit many balls over the fence. he LOVES to play ball with his dad and can't wait for him to come home in the evenings. I am excited to see Jack in uniform and cheer him on. maybe this summer if I can find a 3 y/o league.

baseball reminds me of my youth and dad...summer evenings spent running around the fields at church ball games. I love the smell of his mitt and the softness of the leather from use over many, many years. the photos are of Aaron's old glove. the very same glove I was wearing when I lost my wedding ring (
ring #1). We had only been married a few months when I lost it. I was playing baseball at Aaron's office party. when I took the glove off my hand, my ring came with it. I didn't realize it was gone until a few hours later. we were in a large, grassy park in Provo and I tho't the ring was gone for good. but, my diligent and thorough BIL found it among the blades of grass. forever grateful.

I spent the last 4 days up in Utah with my girlfriends. no diapers, bottles or snotty noses. lots of shopping, laughter, eating out, staying up late and sleeping in. pure bliss. grateful the husband let me enjoy some time away. didn't even complain he was home with 2 sick babies (both got ear infections while I was away). it snowed everyday while in UT. I returned down south to cold temps and rain. yuk. doesn't much feel like the start of baseball season. hope this isn't an indication of how the season will go for SF (Aaron's team). go Giants!

Aaron won't be adding to his collection of autographed baseballs this year. boys
spring training trip was cancelled...too close to the birth of our 2 new nephews (congrats Brigitte/Evan and Holly/Jared!). Aaron's not too sad about it. instead, he will be going to SD in a few weeks to enjoy some guy time with friends from work...sea kayaking, fishing, and a Giants baseball game. pretty good trade if you ask me.

who is your favorite baseball team?
and is it baseball glove or baseball mitt?
