About Bill Martin
Hi, I'm Bill, the Divergent Mountain Biker. I've traded in pretending (also known as masking in my world) for authenticity, discovering life’s way more interesting this way.

From Roundup to Trails
I grew up in Roundup, Montana, amidst cattle and the Bull Mountains. Though school wasn’t my jam, mountain biking quickly became my passion. After a stint coding helicopters at Sikorsky Aircraft, the Montana mountains called me back, this time to Missoula, where trails became my therapy.
Trails, Tech, and Team MoBill
In Missoula, my coding life balanced perfectly with trail rides, forming the legendary Thursday Night Ride (TNR) crew. It was at an Adventure Cycling party that Team MoBill began, a blend of adventure, resilience, and love shared with my partner, Mo.
Divergent Awakening
A friend's recommendation to read Jonathan Livingston Seagull provided an early indication of my neurodivergence, though it didn't fully resonate until 2024, when popular mountain biker Rob Warner shared his own journey. His story deeply resonated with me, and since then, with Mo's support and guidance, I've come to fully embrace my identity as autistic. Dropping the mask has allowed me to truly accept who I am, quirks and all.
Why I'm Not Average
My world is shaped by my neurodivergent traits:
Intense Solitude: Alone time recharges me.
Sensory Sensitivities: Bright lights and certain sounds overwhelm, nature and pets soothe. I hate touching water and snow!
Direct Communication: No small talk here, let's get real.
Special Interests: Mountain biking dominates my life, fueling hyperfocus and joy.
Literal and Logical: Figurative language isn't my strength, but details certainly are.
Honest and Direct: I speak openly, filters optional.
And those are just a few reasons why blending in never suited me.
Health and Adventure
Nutrition and endurance are key to my lifestyle. I'm committed to a holistic approach, drawing insights from leaders like Dr. Terry Wahls, Mark Sisson, and Phil Maffetone, always seeking trustworthy and balanced health resources.
Epic Moments
Highlights from my adventures include:
6th place at the 2009 24 Hours of Adrenalin World Solo Championships (178.56 miles, 33,660 ft climbed).
Creating the Remember Marcy Vision Quest (RMVQ), a tribute to my beloved pet and a challenge covering over 150 miles with 20,000+ feet of climbing.
