2020 AgriTech Hackathon Official Rules and Regulations
We want to ensure that all participants have a great experience competing in the 2020 AgriTech Hackathon! However, we also want to make certain that all participants are competing honestly, safely and fairly. Please find below the Official Rules and Regulations of the 2020 AgriTech Hackathon that we expect all participants competing in to follow.
Individual Eligibility

Attendees from all backgrounds, genders, and geographies are welcome. Participants must have an education of Grade 7 or above. In the case that you are under 18, your parents/legal guardian must fill out the necessary parental/guardian consent information authorizing you to participate in the hackathon.

Committee members, staff members of Spark Niagara or Town of Lincoln, Mentors, Judges, Speaker and Panelists are not eligible to participate in the hackathon.

There is no country restriction but you must be eligible to receive prizes (in case you win) and you are responsible for paying any taxes on the prize winnings.
Team Eligibility

Teams will consist of a maximum of 4 members with a minimum of 3 members if necessary.

If you are signed up as an individual participant you will be placed in an appropriate team of 4 as decided by the Hackathon Committee.

Changes to team members are not permitted after Wednesday November 4, at 5:00pm. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis as decided by the Hackathon Committee.
Project HACK

No project may start before the actual date and time of the event. Any teams that violate this rule will be automatically disqualified.

Any software development tools, game engine, IDE, and/or programming language can be used for the event.

A team can submit only one entry for the hackathon. Participation at the hackathon is subjected on a “per-team” basis meaning you are not allowed to be on more than one team at the event.

A team may not code applications that violate the code of conduct. For example, Racially insensitive ideas for an application will automatically be disqualified.

All ideas and answers must be original. No stealing of copyrighted items or answers and ideas from other competitions and competing teams is permitted

Challenges must be completed during the times provided in the schedule. Teams will not be given extra time if their challenge is incomplete.

Monitors will be online to assist and ensure all rules and regulations are followed during the hours of Friday, November 6th from 8-11pm, Saturday November 7th from 8:30am - 11:00pm and Sunday, November 8th from 8:30am - 11am (at which point projects need to be completed)
Project Submission

All teams should have a team name or number, and be registered with Hopin and Devpost.

All projects must be submitted by 11:00am on Sunday, November 8, 2020. No late submissions will be accepted.

During the recorded pitch presentations, a team's entire idea or solution does not need to be fully implemented; however, the submission should be functional so that it can be reviewed by the judges.

All pitch presentations should not exceed 3 min.
Prizes

There are 2 levels of participants and therefore 2 levels of prizes each with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place category

Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony on Sunday November 8th, 2020. All winners must be present online at the time of the announcement.

Prizes will be awarded via e-transfer within a few weeks of the event. Cheques may be issued on an individual basis as decided by the Hackathon Committee.
General

The developer/developers of the solution will have all rights and will own the IP of the product. However, all solutions and ideas need to be in the public domain (open source) so that it can be evaluated by the judges.

All participants need to follow the Code of Conduct when competing in the AgriTech Hackathon. All participants are required to review and sign off electronically on the Code of Conduct before competing. There will be no exceptions.
We ask that all participants review the Official Rules and Regulations before the competition begins. Failure to follow stated Rules and Regulations above could result in disqualification for the participant and/or team.
